ACCREDITATION NOTICE

The BSN - DNP Nurse Anesthesia program in the School of Nursing and Health Studies at the University of Miami will be hosting a visit for re-accreditation by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) on June 11-12, 2018.

Because of the important role you play in our health care community, we would value your submission of written comments that can be used during deliberation by the evaluation team.

Accreditation

The BSN-DNP program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), One Dupont Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washington, DC 20036, (202) 887-6791. Our CCNE re-accreditation is effective for the next 10 years, extending to June 30, 2026.

The BSN-DNP Nurse Anesthesia Track is also accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA); Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA), 222 South Prospect Ave, Park Ridge, IL 60068-4001, (847) 655-1160, accreditation@coa.us.com. The program is accredited through 2018. This accreditation permits graduates to take the National Certification Examination to obtain the CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) credential from the National Board for Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).  

The University of Miami is a member of the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges, 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, GA 30033 • (404)679-4500 the U.S. Department of Education recognized regional accrediting agency and is accredited to offer degrees through the doctoral level. The University of Miami's accreditation was last affirmed by SACSCOC in 2008. The next review is in 2018.

Employment

All certified CRNA graduates have been successful in obtaining employment as a nurse anesthetist within six months of graduation. Most students obtain employment commitments well before graduation or shortly thereafter. UM graduates have obtained employment throughout Florida and in most geographical regions of the country.
