The Post BSN - DNP Nurse Anesthesia program in the School of Nursing and Health Studies at the University of Miami will be hosting a visit for re-accreditation by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) on April 19-20, 2018.

The BSN-DNP program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), One Dupont Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washington, DC 20036, (202) 887-6791. The CCNE accreditation is effective for the next 10 years, extending to June 30, 2026. The BSN-DNP Nurse Anesthesia Track is also accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA); the program is accredited through 2018. This accreditation permits graduates to take the National Certification Examination to obtain the CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) credential. The University of Miami is a member of the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges, the U.S. Department of Education recognized regional accrediting agency and is accredited to offer degrees through the doctoral level.

*The inaugural class of the UM  BSN-DNP Nurse Anesthesia Program, the first program to transition from Masters to DNP education in the state of Florida, graduated its first cohort of students in December of 2016. Our  BSN- DNP Nurse Anesthesia Program continues to follow its past trajectory of consistently high pass rates.

Attrition rates includes number of students who switched to a different specialty, withdrew from the program, took leave of absence, or left the program due to other factors . Our attrition rates are comparable to other program reports.


All of our graduates have been successful in obtaining employment within six months of graduation. Most students obtain employment commitments well before graduation or shortly thereafter. While some students choose to remain in South Florida, many of our UM graduates have also obtained successful employment opportunities in most geographical regions of the nation.
